If you feel stressed, get help as soon as possible!
Unfortunately, it doesn’t go away on its own. It may calm down for a while, due to changes in your circumstances, but it won’t completely disappear. As highlighted in our other blog posts, stress is a natural human reaction to certain situations. Being able to cope and handle stress is the key to ensuring that it doesn’t take a grip of you and spiral out of control. When you attend therapy, we will give you the tools to help you better manage stress and help you to think differently about situations. This will remove the fear associated with stress, leading you to feel more confident in your own ability to successfully manage stress and stressful situations.
High stress levels can be caused by a variety of life situations including work pressure, difficult relationships, financial difficulties, a loss, or bereavement. Long term exposure to stress can lead to serious physical, as well as mental, health problems. Inability to sleep, increased alcohol intake, and anger outbursts are all early symptoms that can alienate the stressed person from those around them and add to the problem. When stress, and your reaction to it, are dominating your life and there is no chance to switch off, it is time to seek help.
Stress can wear many disguises. If you suffer from anxiety, worry, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorders, or depression, they can all be traced back to stress!
